Oral cavity or mouth consist of a number of teeth and a muscular tongue. Teeth are embedded in a socket of jaw bone, this type of attachment is thecodont. Majority of the mammals have two set of teeth during their life, i.e., diphyodont. Temporary or deciduous teeth (20 in number) are replaced by permanent teeth. An adult human has 32 teeth, i.e., 16 in each jaw. These are of four different types (heterodont) namely incisors (I), canines (C), premolar (PM) and molars (M).
