The secretion of salivary glands is called saliva. Medium of saliva is slightly acidic. The quantity of saliva in an adult is 1000-1500mL/day. Chemically, saliva is a mixture of water and electrolytes . Some enzymes, salivary amylase and lysozyme, (an anti-bacterial agent) are also found in saliva
