Starch is a polymer of 
D −glucose. It has two components ,namely
(i) Amylose and
(ii)Amylopectin
Amylose has only 
−1, 4 −glycosidic linkage and is a linear polymer.
Amylopectin has 
−1, 6 −glycosidic linkage in addition to 
−1, 4 −glycosidic linkage and is a cross −linked polymer.
