(b) Micropyle is a minute opening present at one end of the seed coat. It is very helpful in seed germination as sufficient water enters the seed through micropyle. During fertilization, micropyle of the ovule provides a passage for the entry of pollen tube, but the pollen tube may enter the ovule by passing through chalaza or integuments. |
