Frameshift mutations are the mutations caused by insertion (i.e., addition) or deletion of one or more nitrogen bases in the DNA or RNA. This type of mutation alters the nucleotide sequences in all the genes and hence, the genetic code is changed totally, fro the point of mutation which results in the change in biochemical behaviour of the genes.
