a. $7 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 5 \mathrm{~cm}=$ $\mathrm{cm}$
Answer
$7 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 5 \mathrm{~cm}=7 \times 100+5 \mathrm{~cm}: 700+5=705 \mathrm{~cm}$
b. $505 \mathrm{~mm}=\ldots \mathrm{cm} \quad \mathrm{mm}$
Answer:
$505 \mathrm{~mm}=505+100=50 \mathrm{~cm} \mathrm{} 5 \mathrm{~mm}$
c. $326 \mathrm{~m}=$ $\mathrm{cm}$
Answer.
$326 \mathrm{~m}=326 \times 100=32600 \mathrm{~cm}$
d. $5 \mathrm{~km} 30 \mathrm{~m}=$ $\mathrm{m}$
Answer.
$5 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 30 \mathrm{~m}: 5 \times 1000+30=5000+30=5030 \mathrm{~m}$
e. $650 \mathrm{~cm}:$ $\mathrm{m}$ $\mathrm{cm}$
Answer:
$650 \mathrm{~cm}=650 \div 100=6 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 50 \mathrm{~cm}$

Find the sum of the following
a. $17 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 45 \mathrm{~cm}+52 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 30 \mathrm{~cm}$
Answer

b. $75 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 400 \mathrm{~m}+37 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 300 \mathrm{~m}+52 \mathrm{~km} 750 \mathrm{~m}$ Answer:
$400+300+750=1450 \mathrm{~m}$
$1450 \mathrm{~m}=1 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 450 \mathrm{~m}$

c. $4 \mathrm{~cm} 8 \mathrm{~mm}+5 \mathrm{~cm} 9 \mathrm{~mm}$
Answer:
$8 m m+9 m m=17 m m=1 \mathrm{~cm} 7 \mathrm{~mm}$

 

Question $4 .$
Subtract the following
a. $15 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 450 \mathrm{~m}-13 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 200 \mathrm{~m}$.
Answer.
Difference $=15 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 450 \mathrm{~m}-13 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 200 \mathrm{~m}$ $=2 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 250 \mathrm{~m}$

b. $750 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 840 \mathrm{~mm}-370 \mathrm{~m} 480 \mathrm{~mm}$.
Answer:
Difference $=750 \mathrm{~m} 840 \mathrm{~mm}-370 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 480 \mathrm{~mm}$ $=380 \mathrm{~m} 360 \mathrm{~mm}$

c. $5 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 400 \mathrm{~m}-3 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 350 \mathrm{~m}$
Answer:
Difference $=5 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 400 \mathrm{~m}-3 \mathrm{~km} 350 \mathrm{m}$ $=2 \mathrm{~km} 50 \mathrm{~mm}$

Multiply the following.
a. $350 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 45 \mathrm{~cm} \times 7$
Answer.
$\begin{aligned}
&45 \times 7=315 \mathrm{~m} \\
&=3 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 15 \mathrm{~m}
\end{aligned}$

b. $25 \mathrm{~km} 300 \mathrm{~m} \times 6$
Answer:
$\begin{aligned}
&300 \times 6=1800 \mathrm{~m} \\
&=1 \mathrm{~km} \mathrm{} 800 \mathrm{~m}
\end{aligned}$

c. $37 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 350 \mathrm{~mm} \times 8$
Answer
$\begin{aligned}
&350 \times 8=2800 \mathrm{~mm} \\
&=2 \mathrm{~m} 800 \mathrm{~mm}

Question $7 .$

Answer the foliowing:
a. Saravanan had chosen to drive his vehicle from puducherry to Chennai for a distance of $165 \mathrm{Km}$. While starting his vehicle, the odometre showed $000157 \mathrm{Km}$, Find the reading of the odometre, when he reach Chennai?
Answer:
Distance form Pudicherry to Chennai $=165 \mathrm{~km}$
Odometer showed $=000157 \mathrm{~km}$
Reading of odometer after reached Chennai $=165 \mathrm{~km}+000157 \mathrm{~km}$ $=000322 \mathrm{~km}$.
b. Karthik Raja decided to travel from A. He moves $1 \mathrm{Km}$ in east to reach B. Then he goes $2 \mathrm{Km}$ towards north and reaches $\mathrm{C}$. Then he goes $1 \mathrm{Km}$ towards west and reaches D. If he goes $2 \mathrm{Km}$ towards South, Where would he reach? Draw apt Diagram and Justify. Also find out the total distance travelled by him.
Answer:

He would reach $=\mathbf{A}$
Total Distance $=1+2+1+2=6 \mathrm{~km}$
c. Sangeetha has just finished building a new house with garden area. She measured the garden area and found it to be $6 \mathrm{~m} x 6 \mathrm{~m}$. Suppose she has to put a pole every $\mathrm{lm}$, how many poles are required? Each pole is of height $1.5 \mathrm{~m}$ from the ground, What should be the total length of the fencing material to fence the garden?
Answer
Side of the Garden $=6 \mathrm{~m}$
No. of poles required $=6+6+6+6=24$
The total length of the fencing material to fence the garden
$\begin{aligned}
&=24 \times 1.5 \\
&=36 \mathrm{~m}
\end{aligned}$
d. One student needs $\operatorname{lm} 25 \mathrm{~cm}$ cloth to stich a shirt. What is the total length of clothes need to stitch a class of 22 students?
Answer:
Cloth is needed for one student $=1 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 25 \mathrm{~cm}$
Total cloth is needed for 22 students
$=1 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 25 \mathrm{~cm} \times 22$
$=27 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{} 50 \mathrm{~cm}$

e. The distance from village $\mathrm{A}$ to village $\mathrm{B}$ is $3 \mathrm{~km} 450 \mathrm{~m}$. The distance from village $\mathrm{B}$ to village $\mathrm{C}$ is $5 \mathrm{~km} 350 \mathrm{~m}$. What will be the total length of the road, if the road is laid from village A to village C?
Answer:
Distance from village A to Village $B=3 \mathrm{~km} 450 \mathrm{~m}$
Distance from village $B$ to village $C=5 \mathrm{~km} 350 \mathrm{~m}$
The distance from $A$ to $C=8 \mathrm{~km} 800 \mathrm{~m}$
