NCERT Solutions for Class 7 Maths Chapter 13 - Visualising Solid Shapes

Example 1

Here is an oblique sketch of a cuboid [Fig 13.14(i)]. Draw an isometric sketch that matches this drawing.

Solution

Here is the solution [Fig 13.14(ii)]. Note how the measurements are taken care of.

How many units have you taken along (i) 'length'? (ii) 'breadth'? (iii) 'height'? Do they match with the units mentioned in the oblique sketch?

Example 2

If two cubes of dimensions $2 \mathrm{~cm}$ by $2 \mathrm{~cm}$ by $2 \mathrm{~cm}$ are placed side by side, what would the dimensions of the resulting cuboid be?

Solution

As you can see (Fig 13.18) when kept side by side, the length is the only measurement which increases, it be comes $2+2=4 \mathrm{~cm}$.
The breadth $=2 \mathrm{~cm}$ and the height $=2 \mathrm{~cm}$.
